People that know me will know I'm a better writer than I am speaker, so this blog is my way of explaining what it is I do with my spare time and why I enjoy it; namely, photography and science. If the two can be combined then all the better. If you would like to see more of my photos, or to purchase any, then check out my website at www.jasonhehirphotography.com If you like what you see then feel free to spread the word on Facebook and Twitter and the like. Thanks!

365 Project: Photo 285
It's been a while since I pretended my photo is on topic so here goes....
The theme today is Close and, indeed, this is quite a close up picture of a rapidly rotting rose. What I was actually interested in, however, when I put this together was the idea of a triptych. I've had a few ideas for triptychs and over mosaic type images for a long time now but I didn't actually have the expertise required to pull them off - and so I thought I had better educate myself. The web is positively bubbling over with video tutorials that make this sort of thing fairly foolproof and it proved to be none too difficult. Having said that, whenever I use the word foolproof I'm reminded of the witticism: show me a foolproof plan and I'll show you a bigger fool. Still, this wasn't too bad for a first attempt.

365 Project: Photo 260
This is the Victoria Tower as seen from the eponymously named gardens. I think it's rather fitting that St. Stephen's Tower (Big Ben) was renamed Elizabeth Tower for the Jubilee celebrations; the two great matriarchs of the last two centuries standing either side of Parliament. Even though it is larger and more grand than its opposite number the Victoria Tower is much less well known.

365 Project: Photo 120
Another beautiful day in London. This is taken in the garden of St. Thomas' Hospital. I came here specifically to try and get a shot with the interestingly shaped fountain and, what is now called, Elizabeth Tower but my composition wasn't great and so I went with this wider shot. I'll go back and nail the picture I had in mind at some point in the future.

365 Project: Photo 071
It all went a bit wrong today. The theme was Shamrock so I thought I would take a photo of some clover; so far so easy. So I went to Russell Square at lunchtime to get the shot and this is what I got. It was only afterwards that I wondered whether or not clover really is shamrock and some quick research seems to suggest it's a matter of some contention. Then, looking back at the photo, I realised that I hadn't even taken a photo of clover anyway - all round fail. Still, here it is:
